Time For Rear Shelf Speaker Replacement

Hi Gang.........well, after six years the time has come for new speakers in the rear deck shelf. How about some recommendations....nothing wild, but better quality than the original Panasonics which came as original equipment with my GXE Audio sytem. List em out for me please...I'm just changing speakers, no head unit stuff. I read my Chiltons and it looks like the rear seat, seat back and shelf have to be removed to get access to the speaker mounting screws. Anyone gone through this exercize.

Thanks in advance.......

A few tips

I did this the past weekend, but replaced the speakers with identical ones. The schematic above will get you started, but the back shelf is held on by clips and the cardboard is fragile and tends to rip, leaving the clip stuck to the car. Use a putty knife; I think there were a total of six clips in the shelf, four on the front and two halfway back, in the middle. Put the putty knife between the body and the head of the clip and twist. I also just bent the shelf and propped it up with a screwdriver rather than completely removing it. Also, I broke a little part of the third brake light when I pulled it toward the front of the car.

Yeah just be carefull of the rear pillar panels...that was the only thing I had a problem with on mine. I have infinity Kappas all the way around, but if you aren't going to get an amp I would say go with the refrence....great bang for the buck....
