RECOMMENDATIONS for Cd-changers

ok guys, here is the scoop. I used to have an mp3 player on my old car and now i want to keep my bose system in my new max and sell my head unit which i think i can get around 150 for it.

With this money i'm planning to get a cd-changer (either external or internal, preferably internal) but i need a few recommendations along with the price range i'm working with.

I saw Pearl96max's cd changer (internal) and it's so hot but a little over my budget. 6 cd changer is good enough for me, maybe 10 max. I personally thought all were the same and not much difference but Pearl tells me otherwise. So for 150, is there any internal i can get? if not, what external can i get that will meet my budget?

Just something that will read the cd's, not skip or anything.

that sounds good. I found this Sony one which is 10 cd changer and play's mp3's for 169 + shipping on ebay. They sell the same thing at best buy for 250. I just don't know how compatible it is for my car (bose double din 97 max). If its not compatible, and you have good recommendation for this one, i'll jump on the wagon

According to crutchfield.com only a stock CD Changer is compatible with the BOSE head unit, I didnt want to to go FM modulated as the BOSE head unit has controls for a changer and I find it quite convenient to use that.

The $169 Sony units you see on eBay will only work with a sony head unit, search for CDX-565MXRF (plays mp3's) about $200 which is FM modulated and can work with any car , PM phenryiv1 he might still be selling a 6 CD FM modulated Clarion changer.

I believe to use the eBay 6 CD in dash changer you need to remove the BOSE unit, that changer is approprate for a GXE with no CD.

^^^ that's the changer i wanted. I heard the FM hook up sounded crappy . Is that the ONLY way to hook it up on the BOSE system?

there's plenty of good used changers on ebay. to date, i've bought 3 12cd changers in excellent condition for under $50, all included the optional FM modulator. Ebay is definitely the way to go if you're patient (each one took about 1 month to aquire)

how about this: MP3 is marginally better than FM. So if you're burning mp3's to cd then playing them in your car, you're not much better than FM. The compression used in mp3 just sucks (nothing above 16kHz). So my point is, if you're playing mp3s->cd, quality doesn't matter if you go direct or fm modulated.

One important step in setting up the fm modulated changer is proper gain, just like amplifiers. Get that right, and the system's fine. It takes a while to tweak if you don't have a setup cd. So first, I do it by ear, then when I get a chance to borrow my bro's test cd, I tweak again.

sounds good. I guess if i want one i'll have to go 'flyer's' route because if i buy just anyone i'll probably need a whole bunch of pieces to work with bose.

No need to go FM or Nissan direct

Soundgate makes an interface that will allow you to use your factory Bose w/ CD changer control with an Alpine Ai-Net changer (CHAS634). Here's the number right from theire website to order: 1-888-760-4707

BTW The Alpine changer can read MP3 encoded CD's

that's awesome. I'm interested but i bet the cd changer costs like 250+ dollars. I'm really trying to spend no more than like 200 shipped for it.

I just went to www.soundgate.com and the interface is $120. The Alpine CD changer is $250-300.

I used a Kenwood 10 disk with an FM changer in my old Durango and it sounded fine. If you are keeping the Bose head unit, you will probably not notice the difference in CD to FM quality.

i have an alpine in my accord w/ bose head unit and it sounded great... It was a straight hook up, the plug went into the back of the bose head unit and no other things wee needed. i had to make sure i got the alpine cd chager that wasn't AI net b/c those have diff. plugs.... i might sell my alpine due to the fast i just put my rockford mp3 player from my maxima to my accord... so if u're interested let me kno, i'm not certain if i want to keep it...

i would seriously beg to differ with this! the sound quality of the Bose system is really pretty good. the main problem is they like to break very easily. if you can't tell the difference between FM modulation and true CD sound then you need to check again.
