I don't want to spend too much, but my crappy one went out so I have to music. I'm not an "audiophile" so I don't need to best money can get. I want something that is dependable, not a competition level sound system. I'm doing this one step at a time because of $$ issues. I'll be using stock speakers for now and start saving for aftermarket ones after I get the amp (I need sound for my commutes first!

JBL makes a really good 4 channel amp for the money.

you can get it on eBay for under $150 new

"JBL P80.4"

Output 4 Ohms: 40W x 4
Output 2 Ohms: 80W x 4
Output 4 Ohms Bridged: 160W x 2
Signal-to-Noise (dBA): >110
Frequency Response (±3dB): 10Hz - 50kHz
Total Harmonic Distortion: 0.05%
Input Sensitivity: 250mV - 4V

Would be a good choice imo. Good luck

Do you have aftermarket speakers or stock?

I trying to see if I can get decent 4 speakers for the inside cabin w/ nice bass and avoid getting a separate box in the trunk for the bass.

kafene.

btw, any complaints on ur amp? my crappy one that I had wouldn't last for than 40 minutes at loud (not LOUD) volumes without kicking off for about 15 minutes to cool off.

Dude, I'm almost embarrased to say. One of the guys here at work is always giving me a rough time over my 'no name' amp!

It's a Carnival Rio w/ all the built in x-overs, yada, yada, yada.. You can always tell a cheap amp when it's under $200 and it's got every option under the sun.

I have Sony 6 1/2's in the rear and some components in the front that are starting to blow, so I need to replace them. Ive never had any trouble with my amp what's so ever, it came still sealed in the original packaging. BTW, I just saw the same amp at the local Discount audio place tonight... $275 On Sale!

ill give you some advice,

JBL 80.4 is a good amp, probably underrated

any other no name amp or likewise will give you less then the rated power, dirty power, and ****ty quality

stick with a good brand

MTX is high quality, reliable. Don't even try to get bass out of the coaxial or component speakers. That's one of the best ways to get them to sound like crud and blow. If you have any desire for even bad bass get a sub. A 4 cahnnel amp could power a sub and the front speakers. Or you could get a 5 channel amp for all the speakers.

I have this amp sitting in my bedroom, there is a MINOR PROBLEM WITH IT...where the speaker wire connects to the amp, that piece comes out, and you thread the speaker wire in then it pops back in the amp, that piece always comes loose, nothing electrical tape wont hold on, I think we could work a price out if your interested!

Try these Kafene, but they end today:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1396011047
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1396672674
those are just a couple I found, look around and I'm sure you can find better deals... But if you want a GUARANTEED warranty to go with it, I would email dave (sorry, can't find his number)
