does anyone know how to disarm an alarm without the remote??

i posted this in electronics. i have a problem on my other car. as i went to start it i noticed that the battery died. when i attempted to jump start it the alarm went off. the previous owner gave me the car with a defective remote on it. so all i have is a key with no remote to disactivate the alarm. this is quite frustrating. is there anything i can do short of having someone chop off the alarm??

if it's an aftermarket alarm. You have to turn the key to the on position, and then hit your valet button a certain amount of times and that should shut off your alarm.

yup. it's an excalibur alarm. kinda old. the remote doesn't work at all. the previous owner trashed it. i'm s.o.l on this one.

if it's a crappy alarm, just unplug the brain. Many of the DEI units are crappy, so feel free to yank them.

True true...but excalibur isn't made by DEI. Try pulling fuses on some wires that go to the brain. That might help

Same thing happened the first day I had the car.. I didn't know how to use it

Unhooking the battery did not work, and turning the key in ignition didnt't work either. So the alarm went off for 15 minutes out front my house for all my neighbors to hear.

Anyway, for me the only thing that worked was to lock the doors (from inside), then close the door, and unlock it with the key from outside.
