How-to remove rear deck on 5th gen
Can someone please give me detailed instructions, preferably with pictures, of how to remove the rear deck on a 5th gen max? I have subs in my car and that deck friggin raddles louder than anything! I've been stuffing t-shirts in there through the small openings, but i think i could do a more effective job if i took off the whole rear deck and layed something in there. Thanks!

Rear Deck Removal
There was a thread called "Removal Of Rear Deck Lid (BOSE Rattle)" started by Neal728 that was pretty helpful but I can't find it in a search
Oh, this search engine is starting to suck.

It helps me a bit though, as you can see those black screw-like looking things, that's what i need to get to in order to remove that part of it...

). I ended up putting egg crates (foam matress pad) in the rear deck and it worked wonders.cwally
This is what I did to get rid of all the rattle. I had posted this a long time ago. Also I have a 5th gen. First I would see if it's coming from the spot where the rear decklid meets the rear window. Turn up a song with bass and then stick you fingers between the window and the ****lid and see if the rattle goes away. If not what I did was
1. fold down the rear seats
2. pop off all the plastic push in holders along the black plastic trim. 3. Remove those and set aside
4. The rear decklid also has those pop in holders, so it pops up
5. I dynamated everything except the holes where the pop in holders go
6. I put everything back together.
7. When everything is back together, keep the rear seats down
8. Have someone push DOWN the rear decklid so you can see where the pop in holders come down on the underside.
9 Put in a small screw horizontally thru the end of the pin. like this... the screw is the little line i drew and the V is the pop in holder -V like that. This will hold it down, and will not let the pin pop up.
10. On my car most of the rattle came from the rear decklid hitting against the rear window. If this is the case, Buy thick weather stripping.
11. Apply weatherstripping at the point where the rear decklid and the window meet. Apply a long strip, from corner to corner. Squeeze it in there.
12. If rear light rattles, apply stripping between glass and 3rd light.
13. Let us know how it went.
Alright, with the help of my friend and the help of MaxDoogie/Phazeshifta12/Doug Andrews and help from Cwally, I have conquered the rattling beast. My car has absolutely no rattling inside and out. The only thing that shakes, is the license plate cover, but it makes almost no noise. I went to Fry's and purchased a Foam Mattress Pad for a twin bed. It cost $13 with my Fry's VIP Card.
I cut it to fit the rear deck and made sure I cut out the wholes for the seatbelts and clips and whatnot, and with a bit of shoving got it in. The rear deck sits about a cm higher than it is supposed to be, but I can't tell a difference with the seats up. I'm so happy with it, sounds great and cost me a total of $13.11 which is a hell of a lot cheaper than 200+ for the dynamat and 300+ for install or whatever the insane prices are for the install. NO RATTLES!!

Somebody... Anybody!?!?
I could really use some help on getting the 3rd brake light off and the child-seat latches. I can't seem to get them out.
My knuckle is bloody and seems like there's a bolt under the 3rd light seen inside the trunk that is screwed on and also welded. Am I looking at the wrong one?
What kind of tools should be used. I have been trying vice pliers and wrenches and a 15mm socket wrench. No luck so far.
Any advice or additional information?
Thanks...
