PAC install instructions for '02 non bose

I used search and went through many posts but did not find details.

My questions.....
Anyone have a good write up on installing the PAC SWI-X Steering Wheel Radio Control Interface in a 2002 SE non bose with pioneer HU installed?

Also I read something that there is some type of "eye" that needs to be pointed at the HU. Where do you guys place this?
How big is this thing?

Thanks......

I don't know if the wires differ on the non-bose system, however if you have the 5 wire harness coming from the steering wheel it is probably the same as the bose. You can check this:

5th gen wiring diagram

I was also looking for a good place to install the eye. The whole unit is a black box about 1" x 2.5". It has a wiring harness coming out of it (that has connections for power, ground, switched, and a wire that connects to the steering wheel harness - white in my 2k3 Bose). The "eye" is just a small IR lense (about the size of a LED) that is attached to the unit via a bigger gauge wire (about 13 - 14 ga.). The wire is about 2 feet (or less) long.

I originally mounted mine behind the stereo but I could not find a place for the eye to get a line of site. I was just messing with it the other day and I'm going to mount it in the ceiling where the sunglass holder / map light is located. it fits nicely in there, and if you run the wire down to the rear view mirror you have a perfect line to the stereo.

Also, I can get power, ground, and switched from up there so I just had to run the white wire to the back of the stereo where the steering wheel harness was located (you have to use 2 resistors and splice them together with the white wire and the respective wires on the harness).

Sorry I don't have a writeup, but hopefully this will help.
