Amp selection for Sub

Amp selection for Sub
I have installed a single 10" Punch Z RF sub and an older Kenwood amp which is 120x1 bridged. It is obviously not very loud. I am new to the stereo scene and am lost when it comes to pairing a amp with a sub to maximize sound and cost. I am looking for sq not blow the trunk apart bass. Thanks

If looking for sound quality focus on the sub and the enclosure. A watt is truly just a watt. No matter what amp it comes from. Decide on a speaker & enclosure and then match the power for that application.

Makes sense, but how do I match the amp to my sub...My sub is 400watt max with 50-150 RMS. Does that mean that the 120x1 amp is in that 50-150 RMS range? Remember I work with cisco networks not electronics.

120 is between 50 and 150. So it is in the range. But the box is what is crucial to spl, efficiency and sq. A big sealed box will be more efficient and will hit the lower notes more easilly. But the power handling is lower than a smaller sealed box. A ported box with a tuning around 40 Hz or above will be real efficient in the upper sub bass and lower midbass. But below the tuning frequency the power handing will be very low. Also most sq people would not like the way it sounds. There are infinite options. You need to say what you want and how much power you want to do it with or do all the research on your own.

Unless your getting a watt from a pyramid, jensen, or some other pos amp....
But yes, it is all about install. Make sure your box is sealed really really tight at all the joints.
