Keeping Bose cover?

I'm trying to fit 6.5" speakers for the front speakers in my 91 SE and was wondering if I could keep the Bose cover on it. Thx.

yes you can. Its gonna take alot of work to get that 6.5" in where a 4" used to be. Ive done this a few times in 3rd gens, make sure you have a fresh blade in either your airsaw or jigsaw when you cut the bose pod apart.

goodluck!

There's a better but not necessarily eaiser way to fit that 6 1/2" speaker in that door. Remove the Bose speaker box and get yourself a piece of 1/2" exterior plywood (I'd say use MDF, but it would swell due to door moisture). Place the Bose speaker box onto the plywood and trace the outside of it. Also, mark the holes in the plywood. Cut the plywood out and test fit it to your door. Now, make note of where your window track is. Place the template that came with your speakers onto the wood and cut it out. Test fit again. If everything was done right, it will fit fine. One more step, which is optional. After the wood is mounted to the door, WITHOUT the speaker in it yet, get dynamat and cover the wood with it. Also cut the Dynamat to allow it to extend past the wood onto the door metal. Then mount your speaker. I have done this MANY times and it works out very well.
