Viper, Clifford, Hornet, Python...What's the deal??

Okay, so I'm looking into getting an alarm, and I think I have decided to go with Viper. So I go to their webpage to read about them, and the company that makes Viper (DEI) also makes like 6 other brands??? What's the deal w/ that? Is the Viper the best? They all look pretty similar to me, of course I don't really know what to look for either. Can somebody help me out with this?

Thanks,
Lloyd

If you want the best out of DEI, get the Clifford.

Viper and Pythons are sold installed only. The rest of the line (minus Clifford) can be sold over the counter. They are made the same.

marketing strategy

It seems like a marketing strategy. Just like Nissan is making the Maxima and the Infinity I30. They shared a lot of parts but marketed to different segments. If I am not mistaken, Hornet is the lower end of the DEI alarms, you can get it over the counter. They shared a lot of components of the other lines but the warranty is not as good. Viper and Python are the middle line and Clifford is the high end stuff. It's all about what you can afford and what features and warranty you want. I owned a 2k Maxima and wouldn't pay the extract for a I30, but somebody might. Just my $.02
