6 cd changer

Courtesy Nissan has the OEM Clarion 6-cd changer for $149. It used to go for $348. Besides the $39 installation kit, are the wires for connecting to the head unit already in place?

I checked on my car, and I didn't see any harness. Does anyone know if the installation kit includes the harness?

Is this a plug-n-play unit?

From what information I have gathered, yes. Harness plugs from back of radio to cd changer. Dont think there is anything else to it.

Is the harness already in place? Or do you have to install one?

Is this for the Bose HU only? Or can this be added to the stock whatever brand it is?

From what I understand, as long as the controlling (stock) unit has the buttons/functions to control the changer.

Nope. No pre-installed changer cable in the car (1997 anyway). You have to connect and run the cable from head unit to trunk (or other spot) yourself. Ask them if the unit they sell comes with a cable, or if you have to buy the install kit.

Re: 6 cd changer

I read another post, not usre if in Audio or General, about whether the car was prewired. Appears that it depends on the year. Might want to search for the other thread as well.

The cd changer comes with the cable. I know because I tried to buy my friends cd changer, but his cable was messed up, and Nissan won't sell me the cable alone.

What he said. I installed this same unit (bought off Ebay) about 7 months ago and installation only took about 15 minutes. It comes with the cable, but this unit is only compatible with the non-bose head units

Works great so far and absolutely no problems, except it takes so darn long (about 20 secs) to switch between CD's.

Do you know the reason this changer is for non-Bose units I'm getting ready to order the changer. I have the Bose head unit.

Guess I made a mistake. I just checked the Courtesy website and this is the trunk-mounted changer you guys are talking about. The Clarion Changer I was talking about is the Dash-mount (single Din) 6-CD changer for non-bose units, which is the one I have.

Sorry about the Mix up.
