Replacing Bose tomorrow, heres what I bought

Hey guys! First off, I am a total noob when it comes to car audio. I have visited every major audio place I could find in the past week, and got quotes ranging from $1000-$2000 for various setups. I finally settled in today on what I think will satisfy my goals. I wanted a well rounded, clean and powerful system as my musical tastes range from Eminem to Morbid Angel I'm not looking to go out ghetto crusing or trying to vibrate body panels off the car. I received alot of conflicting information from the various shops, which was a bit frustrating. I finally went with the store/salesman which I felt best understood my needs and what I was looking to accomplish. I'm keeping the factory Bose headunit as I want the 6-disc in-dash and also I'd like for it to appear from the outside that the car has a stock audio system in it. Here is a list of what I bought:

Fronts - 6.5" Infinity Reference 605CS Components
Rears - 6.5" Infinity Reference 6521
Sub - 10" Alpine SWR-1041D (and box of course)
Amp - Alpine MRV-F450 5-Channel

Total price including 8 hour install and out the door was a little over $1200. Hope I did okay...

So I'm guessing the shop is using line output converters on the radio. Let me know how it turns out. I did the same with the premium sound in my ford taurus and the results were great. I'd like to know if there is more varaition in highs and lows compared to the original bose speakers and amps because I'm thinking of getting a maxima and I dont like the bose system.

That sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me... I'm supposed to go car audio shopping on Monday (for prices, can't buy anything... yet ) and I wanna see if I can grab a listen to the stuff I want...

Here is a list of stuff I plan on buying:

Alpine 7894 HU
Infinity Kappa 6.5" components
Infinity Kappa 6.5" 2-ways for rear
Infinity Perfect 12" sub (with sealed box)
Alpine 80Wx2 for components
Kicker 200Wx1 for sub

I priced this on Crutchfield for 1800... I was told that I may be able to get a hookup on this stuff for cheaper, so who knows....first I got some other financial woes to take care of...

The shop mentioned something about an adaptor to go onto the factory stereo which I think is what you're talking about. I'm hoping it will sound good! Anything would have to be better than the Bose system though. I'll report back here tomorrow with a review of the system. They had the Infinity Reference speakers on sale which definitely helped out my total cost... I was originally going to go with Bostons, but settled on the Infinity's when they were cheaper and sounded better to my ear (much brighter)...

You should have a very nice sounding system when it's all done!

Now get some Sirius satellite radio in there too

screw sirius...unfortunately for them with teh introduction of the Delphi XM system..its a great little toy, all you need is mounting kits..and you can remove the little controller and pop it into differetn cars, boats, your house, or a mini boom box they sell. I know just at best buy its like 3xm to 1 sirius.

Allright, everything is installed. It sounds somewhere around 100 times better than stock. I havent spent enough time messing with it yet, but my first impression on the way home was definitely very positive. The Reference components up front sound very bright... the sub is fairly understated but it sounds very balanced with the rest of the system. I probably need to mess with the orientation of the box since its faced to the side instead of at the back of the trunk. Overall, I've got no complaints.

Cool, that's good to hear. I may consider a similar setup if I get a maxima.

I pulled the stock sub out of the rear deck and the hole made my new sub sound alot better. I also went back to the installer and had him adjust stuff and rewire the sub (he had it in parallel before). It now could probably vibrate my spoiler off the trunk if I let it.

I Got:

Infinity Ref 6.5 in the front and back = $100 for all 4
Infinity Kappa perfect 10in sub Dual VC = $100
Box built to Manf. Spec. =$80
Kicker KX400 (400 RMS X 1 @ 2ohms)= &250
Rockford Fosgate 1 Far Cap = $70

Total $600

FYI.. If you guys are wondering about the Infinity prices
everything was new. My friend works for Circuit City Corp and
gets to buy direct from HK.

Nothing is installed yet
