Bose HU is removed, Kenwood HU is installed
I've just connected Apline HU through Metra 70-7551.
I connected RCA plugs and red, yellow, black, blue, and orange wires. First, I did not hear any sound at all. Then I realized that I need to connect blue with stripe wire in order to turn on the bose amplifier. Now the HU works. However every time when I change tracks or radio stations there is a loud click. Does anybody have an idea how to fix this?

But from what im reading it maybe the install....
It is kind of popping sound. It is definitely not preinstalled.
I guees it is a grounding issue. I connected the black (ground) wire from the HU to the black wire from 70-7551. Should I connect it directly to some metal surface in the car?

Hi again. OK, I grounded the HU directly to metal but I still have the same pops when changing tracks. Do you have any other suggestions? BTW, there is a black/white wire coming from Metra 70-7551 called "Amp Ground". Should I connect this wire to anything?
Illumination (+) Gets connected to the Orange/White. Don't worry about the Orange/Black (Negative dimmer), just tape it off. Power antenna goes to power antenna (solid blue -> solid blue)

I guess I will post this here, since it hasn't been posted yet, and the FAQ was unclear.
For good AM/FM reception in 5th gen Maximas, be sure to connect your power antenna leads. The 5th gen as an built in antenna booster, and the power antenna leads connected, you will get very bad reception on your aftermarket HU.

Shoot me a PM, I will help you out.
i cant make a new thread so i will ask my question here. i just got a 95 max with bose. ive got a sony headunit (i know, its sony blah) and i was told @ best buy that metra kit 7550 (the generic nissan kit) will work. will it? ill probably buy scosche's version at walmart for 5 bucks instead of spending 20 at bb. but i need to know if itll work. (i realize i am compromising the sound system doing it this way, but its just a temporary fix)
i got the nissan kit 7551 and i also got the kit that lets you turn down the signal (the schosche # is like oe4 or something). i got it all connected, and i have no signal and no illumination from my h/u which worked fine in my old car. any ideas? i checked all of the wiring, it all seems correct
i meant i got the 7550 not the 7551. or at least cc's equivilent. i missed no wires. everything is hooked up the way it should be. im not a total car audio n00b, just when it comes to this bose ****. i think it may be my HU as it used to intermittently shut off but a couple of taps and it would turn back on. damn, and im broke. no tunes in the car
I would like to replace the BOSE HU on my maxima 2000 with a Pioneer 3900MP. Both the pioneer HU and wiring harness (metra 70-7550 with OEA-4 adapter) have a black ground wire. Should I connect them together or they should be attached to some metal place directly?
Thank you in advance. BTW, does anyone know why I am not allowed to post a new thread?

RE Antennas - on aftermarket units, and most commonly Pioneer units, the power antenna lead gets juice *ANY* time the unit is on - on any input. I know some aftermarket HU's don't do that, though - I have a Kenwood, for example, that only puts the antenna up when on AM or FM (not AUX, CD, CD CHG, etc).

no, the wire i'm talking about is the one on the metra harness. it connects to the car harness, but then where does the free wire on the metra end go. i just read somewhere else that it connects to the thing called "remote" or something similar on the HU. that wire on the HU is in fact blue/white stripe, which is just noticed.

Im broke and can't order one until next pay, but need some tunes now my CD player on the bose dont work..
