OK, Should I go with Alpine HU and XM or Kenwood HU and Sirius???

I am going to be getting a new HU this summer as soon as this semester is over and I get the money. I want a CD/MP3 HU with Satellite radio. Should I get the Alpine 7894 with XM radio

OR

A Kenwood HU, Either the Excelon KDC-X569 or the KDC-MP822 with Sirius radio?

From what I've heard, Alpine units are really good. I don't know anything about Kenwood. My dad bought a used car with a pretty good looking kenwood HU in it which seemed nice. What experiences have you all had with Kenwood or what have you heard about it? The KDC-X569 comes with a 2 year warranty but the KDC-MP822 looks really cool.

I haven't heard alot of XM but we have Sirius at my work and I'm pretty sure it's the better of the 2. I could be wrong on this. I don't know. Help me out. Give me some opinions. Thanks.

My opinions:

Alpine = better quality HU.
Sirius = better satellite radio service
My cars = Kenwood KDC-MP919 and Sirius equipment

Clarion supports Sirius if you're not partial to Kenwood.

I just installed a Kenwood KDC-X759 a couple of weeks ago. It is a nice deck, the only things I buy from kenwood are their HU's. Check my homepage for pics.

hmmmm... the KDC-X759 does look good. It's $150 off on Crutchfeild, I'm gonna consider this one too but I'm still leaning more towards a deck with mp3 capabilities.

I'd like to hear some other people's thoughts on this.

Get an MP3 deck, you will regret it if you don't.

I had a Kenwood deck years ago, I was pretty happy with it. Stick to their higher-end stuff and you will be happy too, I think.

As for the radio, if you are into rap I think Sirius is a better choice. If not, then both are fairly equal (they are both fairly weak in the alternative selection IMO).

Alpine

I think Alpine is better than Kenwwod but that is my opinion. The new Alpine CDA 9807 is mp3 capable and XM ready for $220 shipped from ikesound.com they sell stuff really cheap. That HU is a great bargain for its capabilities. My 2 cents

Can't really say anything about XM or Sirius, as I don't subscribe to either... but...

I do have an Alpine 7894 HU (with MP3 capability), and it's been great! Plays all my music, looks nice (green and amber display are pretty cool, would be nicer if blue or purplish), and can control the sub remotely, as well as the timing of your speakers (to control the actual staging of the sound).
I'd say it's a good buy, esp. at the price.

Good luck with your decision.

Mike
