mix and matching speakers...?

If I were to take a JL Audio XR650-CSi / 6.5 component set and install it up front, and then buy eclipse coaxials or some other brand in the rear, would this be ok? Or will this conflict and cause me problem? Also another thing I am wonder is would it be possible to to mix JL Audio XR650-CSi components with JL Audio VR650-CXi Coaxials for the rear? As far as I can tell the only difference is that the JL Audio XR650-CSi have 70 watts rms and the JL Audio VR650-CXi have 60 watts RMS.

Also would it be possible to just forget about the coaxials altogether and just install the comonent set upfront, and pow it with a 2 channel amp? Would it sound ok, or would this be a bad idea, and sound awkard?

I am planning on using the exact same JL components up front and coaxials in the rear. The coaxials are just for rear fill, so mixing and matching shouldn't hurt. It all really just depends on what sounds good to you! BTW, I will be pushing them with an Alpine MRV-F340, off the stock HU.

The rears are mainly just for fill, so it's not a huge deal to have real nice speakers in the rear. Also, you may need adapters to fit the 6-1/2s in the doors. Technically, the stock size is 6-3/4.

well

define rear fill. Does it mean putting the speakers in just to put something there, and they really don't serve a purpose, or they make a small difference or what?

For the most part, you want the sound to come from in front of you. You don't here them as much, but they help bring the sound around you. Basically, they "fill" the area behind you.

.

so would you suggest I just get a 2 channel amp to power the compnents, for now, or should I go ahead and get some components. Or should we install compnents and listen and then I will get coaxials if I need them.

Well, if you do a 2-channel amp and then decide you want to do the rears, you'll need another amp. If you're going to do the front speakers, I would probably just do the rears too and get a 4-channel amp. You shouldn't need components in the rear though.
