Why replace rear speakers?

Recently i rewired my system so that i can cut out the rear speakers so that they are only noticeable a minimal amount. Personally i think that this dramtaically improved the sq overall. This also got me wondering what is the purpose of replacing the stock speakers with aftermarket instead of just staying with stock when going for rear fill?

I don't really understand why people replace them either unless they dont plan on having nothing more than mids and highs...I ususally keep them stock and put a decent amp to them, unless they are horrible and really need changing. For a good SQ system, emphasis is put on the front stage...the rear is there primarly for rear passenger enjoyment. On my next system, I am going to run the stock rears off the headunit, unless the impedance is really strange (like 1 ohm speakers in the 4th gen bose setup).

SQ is judged not only by front stage but also has points for ambience which includes "rear fill". This is the purpose of rear speakers. Look at it like a home theater. Would you build a home theater out of 3 spkrs sitting in front of you???? Same thing there as the car. The rear speakers don't need to blare like the front stage, but they do add a ton when combined with the fronts.

It makes a well rounded sound stage and makes the music appear deeper and more life like. My .02.

Its not possible to run the rear bose off an internal amp in a Hu is it like for instance the Alpine 7894 hu because the speakers are 1 ohm. Can this amp output power at one ohm?

If I remember correctly, the reason why is because the OEM unit has almost no wattage output and the amp can't handle seeing normal aftermarket outputs. I seem to remember reading that somewhere. I may be wrong though.

Why would you want to use stock speakers off an aftermarket HU anyway?

That's home theater. Nobody had more than 2 speakers until the whole surround sound came about. The car is mostly music, no need for rears because you aren't watching movies (except obviously those with DVD and 5.1 audio). Rear fill in a car is because the fronts don't travel well to the rear. In a house, the fronts travel to the rear of the room just fine because there is no driver legs and front seats in the way. Also the fronts in a car are poorly positioned, not enough space between them; in a house you can position the fronts far enough apart. Don't compare home theater and car audio, completely different sound stages.

so it would be a bad idea to run the rear speakers bose off the internal amp your saying? The front are JLs. They are now hooked up and sound nice up front but I am not sure about the back yet.
