Microvision 7" Install

Does anyone have the write up for the 7" screen that replaces the bose double din head unit in a 4th gen? or if anyone has installed it themselves, was it difficult?

i just recently saw/emailed the owner of a max who had the 7" microvision. he said he got it installed at a local shop however. where did you get the screen from anyway? i heard it was around 230 with a Group deal recently (thats an awesome price).

It's not that hard. It just takes some time and creativity I helped another org member do his. We had to trim down the sides of the plastic frame to get the screen to sqeeze between the dash panel and the metal frame that holds the radio and heater unit. We trimmed it just enough to fit in there snug. If you take the dash apart and take the factory radio out, you should be able to get a better idea. It can be done, but I can't make promises on how easy it will be for you. Good luck.

Did it myself, no glue, screws, drilling, tape, etc. was required. I think I was just likely, squeezed it right in..not moveing cause the pressure is enough to hold it still.

Now, that's gorgeous. Will, I take it your screen is different than the one from the group deal. Would you mind telling us where you got yours from? I like yours since it fills up the sides better. Any additional type of customization needed to the bezel? Or plug and play?

yes my screen was not in the group deal..I got mine from ebay

http://search.ebay.com/search/search...m=R2&catref=C3

it is a 7.2" Legacy LCD screen..and is it not exactly plug and play....you will have to do some serious modifying to get it to fit but I wanted a 7.2" instead of 7"

That is sweet. How did you route all the wires from the Play Station to the TV? Did you swing them from the back of console, or did you cut a hole or something?

I ran the wires from my passengers seat to behind the center console. I didnt want to make any holes, you cant see anything really. I have my power inverter under my seat, so al the wires goes under the area of the armrest, quite easy to do. Also very easy to access the PS2. I like it

What is a power inverter? Is this what powers the PS2? If so Im glad someone mentioned an item like this exists....I thought everyone just plug there accessories into the Lighter jim jones ....please tell me this "inverter" eliminates the need for that.

A power converter converts the 12VDC voltage to 110VAC. This allows you to plug in basically anything with a house plug. I hear it's bad to use on electronics though. You're are converting DC to AC, then the AC is being converted back to DC inside the unit(ps2).

Hey metallic97gxe I like your install! For any one that wants the screen in his install, I can get the same screen for around the same price as he purchased his, So you don't have to search e-bay. but there is a huge difference in clarity of the 2 screens. Thats why I have not sold the screen in his dash.
