2002 SE Stereo Install Help Please

Just picked up my Max this past friday, I like the idea of the steering wheel controls for the radio n all, just looking to add a SUB to my NON-Bose stereo.
I got one of those LineOut Converters that splice into the rear speaker wires for the RCA jacks, but is the only way to access those wires to go behind the radio? If so, how do you get to it, doesnt look very self explanatory on how to remove panels.
Also, those of you who have wired up power and ground cables for amps, did you guys go straight off the battery, or off of another 12v source?
Where did you put the ground?
ANY help is much appreciated, im not too familiar with maximas, imports more less, this is my first foreign car.

responses or emails are much appreciated

I would not use just any LineOut Converter, PAC sells one specifically for our cars and it is a cleaner install for adding an amp to your factory system.
Part #
AOEM-NIS2 MAX 95-02
AOEM-NIS1 MAX pre 95

If you are adding a seperate amp, definately run seperate ground and power wires. The power wires should be ran directly from the battery with an inline fuse, and the ground should be tapped into the cars chassis close to where the amp will be mounted!
