95 maxima - please reply if you changed your bose HU but not speakers

i want to replace my bose headunit to something that plays mp3's and possibly has a CD changer, but keep the speakers and everything else. I know there is a problem with the ohms of the speakers, but I've also heard of people just replacing the HU and it worked, or they also used some adapter. what HU's will work or what adapter will work with what HU? thanks.

I have a Kenwood KDC-x859 MP3 player along with stock Bose speakers on my 1997 I30t. Just bought some harnesses from Circuit City, and everything works great.

They're called Metra SmartCables. The Nissan harness is P/N: 80-7550 and the Kenwood harness is KN16-80.

Good luck.

I am the second owner of the car, when I bought it, they owner took out the Bose HU, and replaced it with a single din pioneer deck. It sounded "ok", but not how I would want it to sound. Once ou break up a BOSE system and start mixing stuff, it will never be perfect, your best bet is to do what I did and change your speakers too. Just my .02

I upgraded to some Pioneer 2-way speakers, maybe around $70 for all 4 from an online store. To me they sound better, the problem was, for a while I had a system, but still had the BOSE speakers, so everytime the bass would hit, the speakers would kind of fade, since there were like 2 amps (radio and factory speaker amp), it kinda made the music sound weird. Jut really annoying, especially when the bass hit.
