SQ with Replacement Tweeters
SQ with Replacement Tweeters
I just replaced the factory tweeters with Infinity Reference 1" silk domes and I'm not sure I like the result. I'd recently put 4 Infinity Reference speakers in the doors and thought that putting the same silk dome tweeter as in the doors in the A-pillar would work out well. They definitely raised the soundstage up to dash-level but although there's more treble, it doesn't seem as crisp as with the stock tweeters. I'm wondering if the new tweeters having higher output (more closely matched to the door tweeters) and them being at a slightly different distance from my ears that the door tweeters is "smearing" the imaging somewhat.
Since I had to hot-glue the new ones in they're not coming out easily so I'm thinking of trying to reduce the level of the A-pillar tweeters (series resistor) or angling the door tweeters away from my ears. Maybe having one pair predominantly on-axis and one pair well off-axis will improve the imaging. Any thoughts?
