I have an 02 Maxima with the factory Clarion AM/FM Cassette CD unit (Model No. PN-2431D). I bought and installed a factory 6-cd changer to my HU. I disconnected the HU assembly connectors to run the cable to my center console. Now the HU doesn't work. I checked all connections, but the unit only sends out a single 2 - 3 second beep to the speakers when the ignition key is turned. The unit will not turn on or illuminate the display and even the HU cd eject button is no good. Does a factory HU have a theft protection circuit installed to cause lock up if power is disconnected. If so, does anyone know the unlock procedure? I discussed this will the local dealer and they want to pull the HU and return it for repair. No way am I commuting 1.5 hours a day with no radio. Any advice will be welcome.
