display gone on my Bose

The display is almost completely gone on my Bose in my '96 Max. Is there a fix for this or do I need to suck it up and get a new head unit? It still works fine, cd and all, but the display is sometimes there, then all of a sudden it's gone completely.

The same thing is is happening to my HU. I had mine serviced about a year ago. I was having a CD problem. They tolded me they checked out everything, but I guess they didn't check out the display. Nothing you can do, unless you feel like removing the HU and sending it in for service. It is a bi*&^ to remove the panels, and putting them back in is even harder. They will never fit as perfect as original.

Well, mine just started doing it too. Doesn't seem to be a pattern, the display just turns off whenever it feels like it. I'm surprised there aren't more peeps with this same problem! There's gotta be a fix out there besides sending it out for service.

Yes. My headunit started to lose the display in it from time to time. Shortly after the CD player stopped working also. I wanted to pay to fix it because I liked the clean look of the double din bose headunit, but after awhile I decided Id just get a new aftermarket headunit. Even if you buy a used bose there is a great chance that one will crap out also. If you do want to replace it, I have a nice Sony headunit for sale w/ a 3yr warranty on it.

My '98 SE with the Bose option ($900) had the same problem. First the display would fade in and out...then the controls stopped working...now it is totally defunct. That's a pretty good product, huh? Five years and done. Makes me feel good about the extra $900 I dropped. I've been riding in silence for two weeks now...guess I'll have to do something.
