sub/amp help in 97 SE

Hey all, I'm new to this forum and for the most part to car audio, especially in the sub department. I just bought a sub/amp used for real cheap from a good friend, and they worked awesome in his jeep. Its just a 10"JL and a 150W Alpine, nothing special but should get the job done. I was wondering what the best way to wire this would be. As i'm sure you know the deck has no RCA out, which makes for a big pain in the ***. I bought a speaker line to RCA converter, and tapped into the rear speaker lines (not the red black, the other various colors) and ran that to the amp, w/ power from bat. and remote from the deck. With the bass all the way up, and gain/eq all the way up on the sub it barely began to kick... any ideas.. please help!
