Connecting iPod to Stock 2002 Maxima Nav

I own a 2002 Maxima SE with the Nissan navigation system. I'd like to hook up my iPod (or any other audio source) directly to the system rather than use an FM modulator. Is there any way I can do this?

My system has the indash tape and the 6 disc changer is in the trunk. I rarely use the changer as I prefer to use my iPod. The cassette adapter is getting old quick.

Any help would be appreciated. I tried the search option for the forum but I was sent to a page saying I didn't have access.

By saying you do not wish to use an FM modulator, are you including those that plug directly into the antenna socket ? I know it isn't ideal, but the quality is quite good considering and this method effectively overrides the radio.

I don't think you will have much luck with adapting the changer inputs yourself as others have tried and discovered that the input is data and provides no discreet analog interface. However, you might try this:

BlitzSafe

I haven't tried them myself but have seen the ongoing discussion on MacInTouch here:

Good luck whatever the case - as I am a Maxima and iPod owner I know you have good taste

I was hoping that there was some direct audio connection solution. After having the Navigation system for a year and finding it useless to navigate in the areas I need it (rural areas) I wish I'd have opted for just a stereo that I could replace easily with something with an aux in.

I believe the BlitzSafe is a direct audio connection through the connection for the CD-Changer. However I did notice that the availibility is "soon" you may have to give them a call to see exactly what your options are
