Adding a amp and two subs to Bose?

I want to add a amp and two subs to my bose system. I have read that the best way to go is to get a aftermarket HU. I would really want to stick with the bose HU. What are my options? I want to get a nice sound of it.

I know someone who's done it. It WILL work, you'll just need an adapter for the sub outputs from HU. That adapter is like $25 though
