Component Speakers in the Front or No?

Just a philisophical question:

Is it better to get component speakers in the front doors to take advantage of the stock tweeter holes, or simply disregard the tweeters altogether and buy normal speakers? I'm wondering which I should buy for my car, esp. in the front doors.

BTW, 1999SE-L with Kenwood DD HU...yeah, still using factory speakers. (shhhhhhh!)

Components will serve you well since you already have a tweeter location. Proper aiming and location of the tweeters can help raise the soundstage and keep the sound from being drowned out by wind noise when the windows are down.

The factory tweet location is horrible.

I would put them where they sound best to you. Most likely in the kick panel area near the foot rest. Or possibly near the front bottom corner of the door frame. But it depends on how hard it will be for you to still drive comfortably without blocking the tweet with your foot or legs.

Sorry, don't mean to post *****, but why would u put the tweets at the bottom near the floor? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having them? Newbie to component systems.

First to aim them properly. Second to minimize the difference in the ratio of speaker to ear distances. Third to minimize the distance from the mid to tweet.

If yopur gonna do it, do it right with components. Although keep in mind any reputable components need a decent amp to run them properly. Any major company would tell you this. So when considering doing this also keep in mind the expense of an amp as well.

I have 3 way components in mine. I have a 6 1/2 Midbass driver, 4 midrange, and tweeters in the spot behind the mirror. custom grilles look like factory, and the sound is better than any 2 way components that I've heard. I have kicker resolution 4" and tweeter, with the Kicker RMB6. All running off of an Xtant X603. Two more RMB6 for the rear deck, and two 12's to finish the job.
