More 5th Gen Bose questions

Somebody help me out here. I'm getting aggrevated with the mixed up information between Gen 3,4,5 and Bose/non-Bose and a lousy search function on the TEST site. If these question have been answered before, please bear with me, I haven't found the answer yet.

Pertaining to a 2003 BOSE Maxima:
1. What is the impedance of the speakers?
2. Confirm that the "amplifier" is a single five channel unit.
3. Which component handles crossover duties?

Thanks for any help. I'll have some more specific questions depending on the answers for these questions.

1) MOST likely it's 8 Ohms...that's the most common speaker ohm.

2)Dont know....

3) It IS a crossover. Thats what makes subs have low end, and your other speakers (components) have the mids and highs.

Method Max, not to be rude, but I've got to reply to your responses to my questions.

1. I wanted an answer from somebody who KNOWS, please no guesses. I've seen everything from 4, 6, or 8 ohm impedance on factory systems. I'm happy as long as it is above 4 ohms, but Bose does some unexpected (and stupid) stuff sometimes.

3. I know what a crossover is. I asked what COMPONENT handles the crossover duties. Is it the Bose head unit, or is it built into the amp, or are there passives on the amp output?

Oh, word - I understand man, then again...most likely the component for the Xover is in the amp. But you said it yourself....Bose does some f*cked up sh*t

I got the answer to question #2, but I'm still looking for the answers to questions 1 & 3. I'll repeat them:

Pertaining to a 2003 BOSE Maxima:
1. What is the impedance of the speakers?
2. Answered
3. Which component handles crossover duties?

Thanks for any more help.

1. I heard it is some strange ohmage which won't work. Check the FAQ in the Audio forum.
2. IT's a 4 channel amp, the 5th channel goes to the sub which has it's own amp.
3. the amp.

Maxcosity,
Thanks for the info. I figured out #2 just before your post.

I'm a bit confused about what I've read about the impedance of the Bose speakers. Is it extremely high or low impedance? I am just having trouble understanding why Bose's POS amp can push these speakers, but no other amp can? Has anyone tried? I don't want to be the first, but I'll hang it out if nobody else will.
