what do you guys set your low pass crossover on your amp at? I have mine at 100 Hz but my so friend thinks that a bit high and should be at 80 Hz instead. any input?

i agree 80hz seems to be a good spot, but there is nothing wrong with using 100hz.

I like my front & rears at 80Hz, subwoofer at 125Hz (12dB/octave slope).
My Pioneer amps have passive crossovers builtin that are fixed at 80Hz, 12dB/octave (though I use the active crossover in my Alpine H/U instead)

Try it and see how it sounds to you. I actually switch it back and forth from my HU. I change the sub LPF from 100 to 80 and back, and the HPF on the fronts vise-versa. With some of the bass heavy music, you will get tighter hits with a lower LPF setting, cuz the sub can concentrate more on those hits.

i actually did try that this morning. with it set at 80 and some bassy songs, the subs hit a wee bit harder. at 100 it helps out with the higher bass. think i'll keep it at 80

thanks for the replies!

80hz is pretty standard in amps with a non-adjustable low-pass crossover.

The important question is what size/how many subs are you using? 80 is pretty standard, 50-60 is Very safe. But all of this depends on what you have.
