so you're saying it goes between the dist. block (if applicable) and the amp, right?

It is better to have a separate ground for the amp and the cap. Only the Positive wire should go from the cap to the amp. DO NOT put a fuse between the cap and the amp. Make sure to charge the cap before hookup so there are no sparks when the connection is made. It will leave a burn bark on the gold plating, and be careful not to overtighten the screws on the cap. They strip very easily, and are a pain in the A$$ to fix.

does the ground have to go back to the battery from the cap??? or should i just ground it anywhere????? and how do i charge the cap before i put it in?????

you can charge it with a trickle charger. like the ones that charge your car battery overnight.

I usually charge my cap with an old test light, but it should come with a resistor. And the best way to ground it would be to find a good solid piece of metal, usually near some factory weld marks, sand a small spot down to bare metal, and drill a 1/4 inch hole. Then use a stainless steel nut, bolt and lockwasher to secure it through the ring connector.
