Best Place to put a Valentine 1?

ok i am in the process of saving for a v1..

but, i dont wanna have it in the middle of my windshield and takin it off everytime i leave, cause i KNOW ill forgot... so this is whjat i wanna do

hardwire to cig lighter or something

but have it where my reaerview mirror, but right above it.. ya know what im sayin?

i have the oem tint that comes on the front top of the windshiled..

will that affect the range of my v1? or will it affect anything? i just wanna put it in a place so i dont get it stolen... and that seems the best place to me..

thanks guys

I've been thinking about getting one. I wanna put it where my dome light is. I don't even know if it'll work there, but I'm like you, I don't want it in the open. All I know is it has to be mounted high to be effective.

I remember somebody here mounted theirs right in front of the gauge cluster on top of the steering wheel.

I'm pretty sure you can get a ticket for having one so don't put it in a place that the cops can see. At least I know around here in Nevada you can get a ticket.

Mount it as high as you can on the windshield, but below the tint. I have the remote display, so my V1 is mounted in front of the rear view mirror. The mirror is actually blocking the LEDs, but the view for the radar from front to back is perfectly clear. My remote display is under the radio, so no need for the LEDs on the unit itself.

The tint reduces sensitivity. On some cars, even just the plain windshield reduces sensitivity. I saw an article in one of the car mags on it. Also, the my rearview mirror is blocking the LEDs, not the rear facing antenna

I mount mine just below my rear view mirror. About 3 in below the rear view mirror, works fine. No tickets so far. Actually, it's about 3 years since my last ticket. I'm convinced it work because ever since I got the Valentine, I got no tickets. And yet, I still drive the same.

someone put it by the rear view mirror and it looked cool. so i know that it's possible..
good luck. don't speed. you'll get points. if not, spend hours at the court trying to avoid paying the ticket. not worth my time. i've done it like three times and it's such a waste of my time waiting on line for the prosecutor to call my name.. errrrr... law~

he didnt even check to see if i had record, he jus asked, and my dumb *** said yeh i already had one

**** tellin the truth.. lol

My v1 is mounted under the rear view mirror...perfect visibility, I believe, and it's not in the way of anything except the dash visor when I park, but I usually remove it anyways so I don't advertise to the wrong crowd.

Mount it here. The tint will definitely affect laser (but who cares) and possibly even radar as well...but the range is still pretty ridic. If I am losing range I don't care, because the range is fine where it is.

Get the remote display and mount it bahind the wheel in front of the guages...that way popo won't see it. And *NO* they are not illegal and *NO* you won't get a ticket, but you still don't want them to see it. The only exceptions are Washington DC and Virginia where they are illegal still I believe.

Can we get through this thread without a debate over the merits of radar dectectiors?

I would think that anywhere you mount the detector, especially a V1, where it is still visible outside the car, you are just asking for a break in (assuming you do not remove the detector at all).

The mount that is suctioned to the windshield has a nice and quick dis-mount tab. Leave the mount, take the V1
