Not sure how good of a deal i got but my questions is, the din head unit intallation kit I got is for the maxima but is not shaped for the hu. AM iI supposed to cut it on op? WHat do I use? And how do iI make a shelf available underneath it?

What kind of kit did you get, if the HU cage does not fit in the rectangle of the kit you might need to either file or cut down the kit until the cage fits. Explain your problem in detail and we can help you.

Dash kit P/N: 98-7499 from Metra. It is a pocket that screws in under the radio. The radios cage/sleeve is not used in the 4th gen Max, rather screwed in where the factory radio was.

WHat kind of stores sell Metra kits? I got the turbokit 99-7409 from audio planet adn it is wack. It has a square space for thr hu that needs to br cut. Then there is a really small space underneath that is for an equalizer.

Autotoys.com is a good place that has dash kits, including the Metra kit. I bought plenty of goodies from here and their prices are very reasonable. The only drawback, though, is "no returns". So, make sure you order exactly what you want. Also, Soundomain.com has good dash kits, too.

Since you already bought the kit, try modifying it to fit the HU. If you mess up then go and buy a better one. Just trim the inside piece until the HU cage fits and you are good to go!

U don't need an installation kit for a 4th gen. Just go to Tweeter and get the "universal" pocket and thats all you need. Aftermarket HU's go in the same way the stock bose one does (with 4 screws not 8 though). You don't need the cage from the HU either.

A store, might not have them where you are. I'd asume most car audio places would have it though. Call around and see if they have it. It's like 10 or 15 bucks forget how much i paided for mine. I'd give you mine (I got another pop out tray from a junkyard and used that instead of the pocket) but mine is painted.

thats not it, it isn't a kit it has absolutly nothing for the radio. It is just a DIN sized pocket. That kit looks like it's used if you plan to put a radio and an EQ into a double DIN opening.
