Well, you may consider me rude with my Maxima , but I simply cut off old stock connectors and directly soldered the wires to the speaker outlets (plus/minus respectively). I could not wait to put them in and decided there will be nothing bad if I simply bypass those connectors.

The screws that come with a set of speakers are not good when you mount the speakers on the front doors, tool long. I used the screws that held stock plastick cover of the rear speakers. Those are short and just right.

Will gladly answer any other questions! Good Luck!!!

I must have been thinking about something different.....about the clock that I disassambled recently I guess...

Went out and took a look and sure they were red and green, and red goes to a slightly wider pin on a speaker and green to a narrow, well you know that!!!

It's really not that difficult, so if you don't have expirience with soldering, after this you can be more confident to undertake another project, like changing LEDs to another color of the p/w buttons , actually that's what I plan to do next when get some free time.

The only bad thing happened when I was soldering the wires I accidently kneeled on the soldering iron few times and burned quite a lot of holes in my sports nylon pants

Leave a note if you got them working....
