CD ERR, please help

hey, I have a '99 Maxima with the factory stereo, when I try to play a cd it reads CD ERR, can this problem be fixed, or can I just buy a clarion cd changer and add it on without using the fm radio, or do i just have to buy a new stereo. please thanks

Is it doing this when you try to play ANY CDs, both store-bought & burned ones? Have you tried a CD lens cleaner yet?

Check these possibilities before you go ripping it out for a new one...

CD "ERR" Message

I have a 1997 Maxima and my CD player gave me the ERR message about a year ago. I have been driving around without a CD player for over a year now. It sucks.

There is a company with a web site that fixes Nissan CD Players. I think they charge $150-200 to fix the CD "ERR" problem.

I'm thinking about ripping out the factory system and installing one with an MP3 player.

Check out this place:

They describe the "ERR" problem and give the cost to fix it. They also have a nifty description on how to remove the OEM stereo from the dash board.

Wow! For that kind of money, get yourself one of these: cd/mp3

it does it with new and burned cd's. the cd cleaner works but after you clean it, it still says cd err when you try to play a cd.

You are probably going to have to either replace the hu or send it off to get fixed. My bose Hu has been doing this for the last 2 months, my new Kenwood hu should be here any day.
