Your head unit should have a remote output.

Every deck has a remote wire, bose or non bose. i have hooked up remote to the fuse box on my 1998 chevy yukon which worked fine for a year, till i traded in for a max. i also tried to do the same thing on my buddys 4runner wich did not work fine and allmost burned all of his wiring. So to answer your question find the remote wire behind the deck.

isn't there an easier way? i do not feel like taking apart my whole dash again. especialy since i plan to *hopefully* sell my car soon. can't i tap into a fuse in the fuse box?

You could tap into an unused fuse in the box and install a switch. But I wouldn't want to tap into anything else because it would suck for that fuse to blow while you are driving down the road. And maybe lose power brakes, headlights, defrost, whatever. You could also install another small fused wire from the battery and Install a switch.

Taking apart your dash to get to your head unit isn't hard or that time consuming. There is remote wire that should come from your head unit.
