The one in the middle is a Phoenix Gold/Alumapro 15 farad hybrid capacitor, not an amp. The one on the right is a JL HD600/4 (150x4 @ 4ohm) for front/rear. The empty spot is for the JL HD750/1 (750x1 @ 1.5-4ohm) for my SoloBaric.

Here's some pics of the sub and it's enclosure. The box is a 1.5cu ft sealed enclosure firing forward. It's 3/4" MDF, wood glued, pre-drilled and screwed with 2" screws. The inside has some stinger expert road kill sound deadening and some Dynaxorb squares for wave cancellation. The woofer is secured with T-nuts and bolts so hopefully it won't back out over time.

Here's what it looks like with the back seat down.

And here's the test fix in the car before the amp rack was mounted.

Last but not least, here's the box dimensions...

Oh and if you want to see the whole build from start to present, I've created a thread in the 7th gen forums for it.
http://forums.maxima.org/7th-generat...p-replace.html

*Flame Repellant* Before everybody gets all excited and starts talking about porting and firing direction, It's built for sound quality, not SPL. I realize that not building it ported is costing me about 3db. I realize that not firing it backward is costing me the sound wave maturity so I'm not getting as much energy, etc.

Nice roomy trunk. What type of material did you use to finish off under the rear deck and the side of the trunk?

Thats the factory material. The only thing I added was the black carpet for the box. The thing about that sub is, it only needs a 7inch box. Thats why I went with that. I need my trunk space..

I have a similar setup but my 12" sub is in the rear deck. My amps are mounted where your sub is. There's pics of it in this thread somewhere. I need to finish off the sides and under the rear deck so no wires are seen.. and only the amps are visible. I thought you used some type of different material because under the rear deck and sides of the trunk it looks a bit puffy, it looks like its custom..nice job.

I changed up my set up. I reversed the box so that it faces the cabin. The rattle in the trunk was ridiculous with the sub facing the rear. I must say the TW13.5 JL sub hits pretty hard to only use a 7 inch wide box.

This is the view from the trunk. Notice You cant tell its a sub in there:

This is the view with the seats folded down. There really isnt much difference when the seats are up. The sub still hits hard:

Looks really clean. Whats the difference in sound compared to rear firing and is the box sealed off from the trunk? I heard that output is really good and trunk rattle is almost non existent if you front face, seal off the box from the trunk and finish off by completely dynamatting the trunk.

Asking because i'm thinking of going that route and i HATE trunk rattle lol.

Im sorry to jump in but I have had my subs both directions (facing the cabin and trunk lid) and they are definitely louder facing the trunk lid but the rattle is ridiculous. When they were facing the cabin, they were quieter but they just werent hitting the way I wanted.

I installed some new subwoofers this week, i got 2 RE Audio SE subs and a quantum audio 1500 watt amp model QB1500D.

YouTube - RE Subs Demo

The video really does not do any justice, you have to hear them in person.

Not a lot, but it's a big step up from the 10" Polk Audio I had ...

12" Alpine Type R, being fed by an anemic 480w 4 channel Rodek, bridged at least.

Looking at how it's placed, any opinion on if it could sound better being placed in a different orientation? I need a monoblock in the 400-600w range to really push this thing correctly

It sounds pretty good, hits alright. I know it will sound better with a more powerful amp though. Right now I have 4 Pioneer 3 way 6.5"s in the front doors and rear deck running off the head unit, and the amp only driving the sub, and IMO the Pioneers are too loud in relation to the sub.

The enclosure ...

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Fierce+A...=xed&cp=1&lp=5

Got that, and the sub for $175, pretty good deal But I am just thinking that it may sound better if the port was facing the rear of the car to give the sound more room to travel, maybe not though.

***EDIT***

So I decided to stop at the pawn shop on the way home and see if they had anything, tried out a 550w monoblock, wasn't much better than what I already had, then some off brand called ...hell I don't even remember, hit really good, but the casing was all ****ed up, I was about to leave when I saw a MTX Jackhammer JH600, which is 600w rms @ 2Ω, 20Hz-200Hz, the Alpine Type R is 300w rms per coil so 600w rms @ 2Ω ...a match made in heaven. I looked at the amp, and it was dirty, and looks beat to hell, and had a $119 sticker on it, I asked to look at it, and there was another sticker that said "$50 "AS IS". I asked the guy what was up with that, he said it had been returned, we looked it up and the comment on the return was "broken", not too helpful eh? So I asked if I could try it out, he said sure thing. Went out, hooked it up, and that thing banged hard. I asked what the best he could do, due to it being "broken" boss said $25 ...I'll take it!!! So I scored a $693.93 set up for $200 :P w0ot

Sorry for the long story, just stoked on the score. Oh yea, new pic ...

Turned it facing forward, has more depth, and it hits harder at lower volume, and much harder at around 21 on the HU. I need to secure it, might have to come up with a new format for the trunk since my power wire is too short.

I just bought my Maxima today But I have the following waiting to be installed:

Pioneer AVH-P3200BT DD
Focal Solid 4
Focal Solid 1
Focal 165 V1 Comp's
Focal Access 6.5's

Haven't decided on subs yet but I'm thinking Memphis C3's...Either 2 10's or 1 12". Haven't decided if I'm going to sound deaden either, it's such a pain. I had my past 2 vehicles COVERED in it...

Why the Audiobahn amp? Complete embarrassment to those w6's IMO.

Anyway, I had 2 10w3v3's powered by a Rockford p1000/1bd. Slammed real hard for some 10's everyone thought I had somethin' bigger. Unfortunately I didn't get to snap a pic before my car was totaled.

If I end up getting another 5th gen I'll throw another w3 in there.

Introduction

Hello all I own a 4th gen SE and I am very into car audio/electronics. I look forward to answering many questions and posting threads and how-to's as well on the topic of car audio. I have done all of the work on my max myself and as to date I have components front and rear, ipod integration head unit, and 2 12's in the trunk and moster cables throughout for a high quality and high clarity set up. Posting pictures soon

Alright, so finally got around to taking the monster out. Due to the crappy canadian winters... blah... First is the sub, a Mach 5 Audio IXL18-2.2 in a sealed 4.5 cube box with minor batting so it "thinks" its in a 5.5 cube box. Second is the Amp and cap, a 1000BD.1 Rockford Fosgate amp... and my crappy spare cap since mine is being RMA'd (long story)
***BTW disregard the "post" holding up my trunk its the tensioning bar which "popped" off.
