You're in a thread to do just that, don't bother start a new one.

Update: Just got it painted. Now I've got to finish out the tv pods, mount the tv's and install the 8's.



Just finished this as well. Putting this into my boys dually. There are side walls too not pictured. There's another one just like it. They will go back to back.

I'm sure some of you won't like it but... I'm sharing it anyway.

Sweet.. Nice to see the end result of your install. Came out nice and neat and plenty of trunk space.

 

That was from 7 months ago. Things have changed a little since then.

It is now a 4-way active setup with an added amp, different head unit and sound processor.

 

Holy!! I love your setup and cant wait to get mine done. You do have a 4th Gen right? I thought we couldn't mount amps upside down to possible overheating.

 

Where did you move your crossover to?

 

It is an "active" setup.

The passive crossovers are removed.

Each driver gets its own amplifier channel(s). A signal processor feeds each amp channel with the correct bandwidth of frequencies.

OH I see so basically you no longer have any use for the crossovers. I have a lot to learn about Audio. Im taking baby steps though need to get my Sub adding in and I'll go from there.

 

What kind of radio and processer are you using. Nice job.

Did you also relocate your Sub from centered? it looks like its off to the right now. Also did you seal off the trunk area behind the seat with wood as well as a piece of wood in the trunk? Im going to be doing mine soon so Im trying to gather as much info as possible. Thanks.

 

The sub is still centred. It may look otherwise due to the angle of the shot.

There is piece of 3/4" plywood bolted to the sheet metal behind the seats (trunk side) The voids between the two were filled with expanding foam.

Anything that you try and install on the cabin side will interfere with the mounting of the seat back. (unless it is very thin or you remove material from the seat.)

 

I see. Did you use a piece of wood to hang the amp under the rear deck in the trunk? or did you just screw it to the sheet metal? Im surprised there is enough room for it mounted there because the Tru Billets amps are pretty big.

 

I cut a piece of 1/2" plywood to fit under the rear deck. It is attached with six connector bolts.

Here is an "upside down" component layout I did before installing everything in the trunk.

 

Nice.. you were able to install that whole assmebly like that? How do you like the performance of your system so far?

 

The mounting boards do not attach to one another. That would be a big mistake as you would be trying to enforce rigidity into the car structure with materials that cannot handle the loads.

The board, with the larger amp attached, is installed first with connector bolts to the plywood sheet (back of rear seats)

The other board is then installed under the rear deck. All the components have to be removed first as this board sits above the trunk torsion bars.

The components are then attached and wired up.

The system has an incredible amount of potential. I have a lot of tweaking to do with my front stage still. As a matter of fact, I should have a couple of new additions coming my way at this very moment.

i have two 15" L7 in a sealed box but i want to go ported. i checked the specs for these subs and its 3 cubic feet per sub. ATLEAST. i should go 3.5 tho. problem is i got a maxima. everybody in miami is tellin me datz imposible to do. does anyone know if its possible to but a 6 cubic foot enclosure in a maxima. i dont need trunk space i just need it to fix.

 

If you remove the metal piece and use it as a rough template you can add a 3/4 inch piece no problem. Thats how I had an amp rack mounted at one point

 

not really my trunk but here's a recent picture of my car...

 

i believe boxes like that work very well in maximas..i had 2 hdc3 12's in a 5cuft box tuned to 35hz and it would do 146.6 on the "old" TL..thats 3 batteries and 2 hk401sx's also i took my backseats out for those numbers

Also boxes that arent very high does alot better in trunk..
-ex. my box was like 10" H 34"w and 32" D (dont quote me on that but its something like that) with 80sqin of port area..that box did the best numbers compared to other boxes that was 14-16" H

 

hey people I have a single sub setup nn was wonderin wuts the best way to keep it from movin around, somebody told me velcro it to my carpet but thats sounds stupid plus my spare cover is jakked its so limp my sub tips ova all the time.

 

replace the trunk cardboard with a piece of 1/4" mdf or plywood. then bolt the box down to that with some L brackets.

1/0 gauge stinger wiring
and a stressed out alternator
