I need remote start help

I just recently had my shop install a PEI remote start for my '96 Infiniti I30.

They told me tha an upgrade from an AM to a FM remote start, would be $200 more.
They also said it would be no problem, and It would only take about an hour for the upgrade. But, the shop said that PEI only deals directly with them.

My questions are:

1. Can I indeed order the parts from somewhere?

2. What parts would I need for the upgrade to a FM remote?

3. What are the steps for the upgrade?

4. Can this be done by myself for under $200?

Thank you all and Happy Holidays ,
Frank

Are you referring to DEI? Meaning Viper,Clifford,Python,etc..? If so what alarm do you have now? Is it already a two-way? What exactly are they calling an upgrade? Answers to these questions would greatly help me help you.

Hey Don,

He said PEI as in Precision Engineering, and that they are the manufactuer of other name brands. Thats all he told me, he left me in the dark as far as the specific brand or modle. I am guessing that I will have to look for a serial or modle number on the remote start to be specific, So you can help me.

It is not already a two way, and an upgrade description was not given when he told me about it,(what has to be different to have a FM?) I paid $250 for a professional install, and I have all the locks, my factory alarm, and also I have my trunk release on the remote,(pictured below) I am not sure if you can tell by the remote or not, but I am including two pics anyway...let me know if any of this helps

I guess I can't post a pic ...can I? cause I can't find a pic of it anywhere on the net...
and yes I think it is an el cheapo, it doesn't have a brand name anywhere on the remote..

by the way I just got your pm Don , thanks a bunch , I think I may have to give you a call...
