Bose VIN # input?

My friend just got a used Bose HU on ebay and they seller said something about him maybe needing the VIN #. She supplied the VIN but he doesnt know what to do with it. Will he need to input something in the radio? Can someone explain? Cheers!

Some Bose headunits units need a code from the dealer. And the dealer would want a VIN # in order to give you that code. If this is a Bose unit from 95-99 Maxima, you should just be able to plug and play. No need for a code. (positive no code for 95-96, almost positive for 97-99)
