1995 Maxima SE Non-Bose Door speaker size?

I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima Non-Bose system... Unfortunately that is what it came with. The stereo quality on this is C.R.A.P. I have owned 13 maximas and all were Bose. However, this one doesnt have it. (Never again for non Bose) I am changing the complete Audio system out in this for my wife. I have 3 questions

1.) What size speakers are in the door for the 1995 Non-Bose system
2.) What is the best CD/MP3 Headunit Between $150 -$300
3.) Does the 1995 come with any built in Amps like the Bose system did.

4.) If anyone has any other recommendations that will aid in this please make any suggestions.

Thanks,

Snedman

You would be amazed what just a headunit will do with those speakers...I had the non-Bose speakers with a Pioneer Premiere P900 forever and it wasn't that bad.

As for never again with non-Bose...the Bose system is crap too...why pay 800 bucks for a ****ty stereo? You can put in a system that will sound twice as good for that money.

Speaker size: they are supposed to be 6 3/4 but 6 1/2's should fit too. I just put 6 1/2 JL Audio XR series speakers all around in my 98 SE. They weren't a PERECT fit, but all 4 screws went in with no damage to the speaker. The only thing to be aware of is that if you're replacing the tweeter you're going to have problems. I had to dremel out my doors and flushmount them. Black tweet on a tan interior...I will be posting for opinions soon on whether to fix it or not.

Actually I can't imagine how a 6 3/4 would fit since the 6 1/2's really are fine...

Thanks for the great advice. I am replacing the rear speakers with AudioBahn and the front hopefully with AudioBahn also. Head unit will most likely be a Pioneer.

No. In audio terms for speakers it would be approximately 6 3/4 (a.k.a. 6.75).

Are you sure they were 6.5's? Did they fit perfectly or did you have to do some custom work? Because I have 6.5 Pioneers in the rear (96 non-bose 4 speaker system) and those didn't fit perfectly. I couldn't only secure like 2 screws out of the 4.

Also, I tried to put another pair of Pioneer 6.5's in the front speakers and they didn't fit perfectly into the speaker holder. Would 6 3/4 speakers fit perfectly fine into the speaker holder in both front and back of my 96 Maxima 4-speaker non-bose system???

I did all JL XR series 6.5's and while I wouldn't say they fit perfectly, I have 4 screws in all of them.
