aftermarket HU with stock speakers, convertor needed?

recently my Bose cd player went out on me, so i ordered and already have an Alpine CDA-9811 that i got off ebay... i went to Mobile One and the guy told me that I need a 60 dollar convertor piece... he said it is some box anyone know what the hell he is talking about??? i thought it was just a set of wires that I needed to keep my stock speakers with my Alpine... anyone have an info about this and/or a write up on how to do this install?? any help is really appreciated

i looked an only saw one on a 5th gen bose... is there a write up on how to put an aftermarket hu with my stock bose speakers?

You'll need the PAC kit. It works for both 4th and 5th gen Bose systems (6th gen is untested). Once you have it, you can wire it up to the aftermarket HU and then connect it to the stock wiring harness behind the radio.

You may also need an antenna adapter. You can get them at any Best Buy/Circuit City or local car audio shop for around $10.

I know that write-ups have been done for replacing the HU in a 4th gen, but none that have been done using the PAC kit. The kit is plug-n-play on the car's side. You just have to wire up the other side to your aftermarket HU (just like it was a harness adapter). Then you can test out the radio and fine-tune the PAC adapter to your liking.

thanks for ur help studman, i am just trying to figure this all out... one other question i have is that i found this convertor on in the audio classified section http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ory=32809could this be used or is the PAC kit the only piece i can use.... i have a 96
