Help with Viper 791vx remote start

I have 98 maxima and I am trying to install a remote start on it. I believe I connected everything correctly, but I remote start the car, the car stays on for a second and then shuts down. What is the problem there? The timer feature of the alarm works though. I am able to turn the timer on take the key out and the car stays on for 10 mins and then shuts down. So why cant I get the remote start to work? Any help you guys can give will be greatly appreciated.

Well, I installed a bulldog about 3 weeks ago, i have the same problem still. I let it go for a week and i was going to go get it checked out at bestbuy for the problem...but i got in a pretty bad accident (3500-4000 dollars in damage to my frontend the insurance said haha) and i'll be getting the car back this tuesday. So im excited, but from waht ive heard its because of our factory security alarms that shuts it off so fast and you need a seperate peice to by pass it allowing it to stay on, let me know if you find another way, other then that i'll be taking it in probably next week to have it looked at, everything is connected right as well.

You need to leanr the Tach wire that is all. Except for making sure the tach wire IS connected and to the right wire. White/Green at ECU. If its connected, when you power up the alarm start the car and press the Valet button for a few seconds until the LEDs lights solid, if it doesnt, then you have the wrong wire.

Benny...thats only for '99s and up.

Can I use the white/green wire from behind the guage cluster? Is that the same wire?

Yes that should work as it is that way in the 5th gens. But it is more work than needed. The ECU is very easy to get to.

Also, on the remote start relay there are 4 wires that comes out of it, does these need to be hooked up to anything?, what is it used for? and the H1/3 white/blue wire, where am I suppose to hook that up to?

Yhe white with Blue is a in vheicle starter. It is typically hooked up to a momentary contact switch. It will activate the remote start if pressed twice. The other side of the switch is placed at a ground or negative refrence to the battery

If you are using the 791 with the provied remotes the white/blue wire is not used and can be discarded. This is an activation wire when using factory or other remote to activate the system.
