Problem With Bose Factory Stereo

Hey there people,
I am having a problem with the stereo in my 1995 Maxima, and I was hoping that someone here would know what it could be.
You see, when I bought hte car used, the person who had it before me put a non factory stereo in, when i got it there was the factory bose, tape/am/fm/cd stereo. It worked fine but every once and a while it would flicker (the display).
Now however, the CD player wont accept CD's anymore, and the display is 90% not on. the odd time it comes on and works fine. Also the stereo sometimes just randomly turns off, and I have to hit the radio button to get it on again.
I have been told it could be a short in the wiring where the guy put the factory one back in, but I cant see anything wrong when I take the unit out.

Please let me know what you guys thing, you are usualyl always right!! Thanks for your help!!

This is very commmon on the 95-96 model year bose head units, my display has been out for the last couple years. You can send it in for repair www.carstereohelp.com
seems to be the favorite. Others have gone on ebay and such and picked up a 97-99 model head unit.

Yea man, this happens to everyone. I'd say 99 people out of every 100. You can either deal with it, which is what we have done. Or you can replace the entire system.

Are you handy with soldering?
Your problem is just like everybody else's problem; the power board.

I've sucessfully fixed my display:

You have to repair this (usually):

What are you re-soldering there? The resisitor? Was the resistor bad, or did you just add more solder?

No, not the resistor. The soldering iron's tip is touching the contact point that I am about to solder, which is the left side of the piece that fell off.
Look to the right of that resistor, thats the target. (a transistor I belive)

I just want to say that I resoldered every solder joint on the power board, but when I went to resolder that one, it fell right off as soon as I removed the solder from one side.
So I knew right away it wasn't connected, I resoldered it back on, and it all worked fine. There is a chance it was something else I soldered, but I doubt it.
