Disabling BOSE amps while still using the speakers.
#2
If they are similar to the ones that came with a 95 Camaro option with the Bose sound system I believe you shat out of luck. The amp is built onto the speaker if i remember correctly and to bypass it I think you practically have to re-wire the speaker. I'm not positive but that's all i can give you for heads up

Here is a link to how to take out the amps. Bose Removal Instructions I dont remember which wires are used for the speakers though. I think there is a writeup somewhere around here.

well there's 4 wires on the speaker harness...2 are for power n ground (the 2 thicker wires) and the other 2 are or for the signal...so im guessing you could just disconnect the harness and tap into the signal wires and connect them directly to the speakers.

you can't. the amp that you use to power them would have to be 1 ohm stable and most 4 channel amps are not. what are you planning to run them with? and yes please post in the audio forum. the deck is sending a pre-amp signal to the bose amps. it is not sending nearly enough power to amplify the speakers and the speakers would fry the head unit because of their resistance being 1 ohm

yes you can use your Bose speakers...you will have to rewire the system..... I would recommend a 1 ohm stable amp.... they are out there....both my Nissans (300ZX & Maxima) are wired using the Bose speakers....you have to take the speakers apart....you can pull the amps while thay are apart... cut the wires that are connected to the speaker cone....those are the ones you want to tap ....wire the speaker to your amp ..easy as that .. I can't rember the colors of the + and - wires ....use a volt meter before you take the system apart to determine the correct phase (+/-)
just a few notes... Bose speakers are .75ohm/ so if you run them off your headunits internal amp you will burn it out....I have a 25x4 ADS amp in the Z and a Hifonics 50x4 in the Max ... the stock Bose speakers can't handle the larger amp careful tuning was required to keep from blowing the speakers... speakers started clipping at high volume... I have had no problems with the smaller amp in the Z about 5yrs of cranking it..... the Max was converted about 6mths ago ....

Ok, I found a solution.
You can use the stock wiring for the speakers. Just snip the amp wires to turn them off and put the speaker wires directly on the speakers. I have a sony headunit and it sounds great on them. the front doors were kinda a pain to do but hey. re-wiring them would be a better way to do it but time/cost constraints prevent that for me. I no longer have the background noise from the speakers being turned all the way up and not being able to take my head unit beyond level 2. Thanks.

it all depends on what speakers you have and what setup u chose to go with, as well as how its wired. i have a dvc pioneer sub. both of its coils are 4 ohm but my amp's are running bridged to each voice coil. because the amp is in bridged mode they are running at 2 ohms mono, so my system is at 2 ohms

Well I just removed the bose speakers from the rear and put in my CL 6x using the stock bose wiring. Its fairly easy. It took me about 20 min to take the seats out, take the speakers out and in. and do the splicing. It be like 5to 10min more if you remove the speakers from the amp and hook them up. if you have any ?'s PM me.

I just bought an adapter that shuts off the Bose amps and enables me to use the pre-outs on the HU. It took me all of 10 minutes tire that up and it sounds better than the Factory HU. I don't even have an amp running my interior speakers. Just make sure that you use a quality HU to bring out the sound in you Bose speakers.
