Here is my new idea for my amps. I was thinking of making a template of the wall with the ski hole. Then cutting out a 1/2 inch mdf version of it. After tha I will carpet it and then attach it somehow to the wall. It will have the opening of the ski rack still available and I figure it will be easier to mount my amps on either side of it. My only problem is that the on the left side the trunk carpet goes over the wall and is raised so it my cause some difficulty. Any ideas or suggestions? Here is the space that I'm talking about.

Sounds like a plan...much easier to screw amps into a piece of MDF while you're scrunched up in the back of your trunk, instead of having to screw into sensitive and uncertain metal paneling.

For the carpt / paneling that creeps around the corner to the back of the seats: I just cut mine. IF you plan on putting MDF and carpeting, even if you ever decide to remove the amps and sell, you'll still have everything covered up.

I'd keep the black paneling if you can....it will provide a little bit of vibration isolation for the amps.

 

Here's what I did...something similar..but my amp is a pretty big...and actually spans the entire space that is posted above.

I first mounted the amplifier to the 1/2" MDF board, and then drilled some mounting holes for the board. Next I got some bolts and nuts from Home Depot.

I removed the back seat and basically mounted the amp rack to sheet metal behind the seat, I did put a lot of foam padding between the MDF and the sheet metal and I've heard no rattles of any such, but I do have to say...wear some gloves, because I cut the S H I T outta my hands...till I figured that out...lol. But enjoy..my amp takes up NO SPACE now...just time to get rid of my sub box...prolly deck mount the sub.

The metal is on an angle. Do you think I should just match the angle or should I make it straight up and put foam padding in between?
