i'd go back and check every connection. make sure the ground is good (no paint on the grounding point)

sound like you have the remote power lead hooked to the wrong wire in the harness. very possible that its something more complicated though.

measure how many volts is the amp receiving when the car is on. there might be a surge of power and the amp goes into protection mode due to that.

Sure it's possible, how else can people listen to their radio with the engine off?

Depends on how the ignition is wired. Some stuff is designed to be on when in the ACC and start mode, but to go off once the engine is started.

If it is on when the key is in ACC and off when you turn the car on then you either have loose wiring or likely the remote is wired incorrectly.

what about the gain, i was reading somewhere else and they were saying if your hu has high voltage outs and your amp is designed for low voltage the gain being too far up can send it to protect. not sure if that explains it due to the acc thing though.

No, that shouldn't be a problem. Most of the protect symptoms are low voltage (or no-voltage) related. And other times when there is a shorted speaker wire.

Howdy,

I'm not exactly sure how I got here, but I'm not complaining. This is most likely an indication, that I should write a few more articles.

RaGa, the best way to check your amplifier is to disconnect everything from it except power and ground. Your car can be off for this test, but you'll need at least 10V in your battery. Now, [carefully] run a jumper from the power terminal to the remote turn-on terminal. If the amp still comes up in protection mode, it's most likely broken. Let me know what happens,
