best remote starters for 5spd?
what's the best remote starters for a 5spd? Prestige by audiovox makes one and I can get it for 200 installed. I've heard about Compustar and how it's pretty good with a lotta nice features but it'll cost me 400+ to install the newest one with spread spectrum technology. Can anyone list the brands and the prices or recommendations? I don't wanna break my bank but don't want my car to be rolling if i park it in first and accidentally start it up. Thanks.

standard starters are made for standard cars for a specific reason, you want your car to run over someone or damage something if you accidentally leave it in gear? think about it....
standard starters are made so that you must put them into whats called "ready mode" and if anything inturrupts this ready mode then you wont be able to remote start it..
take a little advice from me, ive been doing installs for 5 years now and im MECP certified... just dont skimp on the bucks and get something that gives you a little peace of mind..
just my $0.02 bud..

compustar's latest stuff i will agree is garbage, but i have always either stuck with clifford (which is made by DEI of course) or with a brand called Astrostart. Astrostart is a company based out of canada, great product not as flashy as a clifford is, but works everytime, all the time.

that's weird. I actually heard good reviews about compustar on another forum here in western buffalo. Now i'm confused on to what's actually good and what's not. I also heard clifford is garbage. Anyone know why people say they're garbage? Mclarke says the compustars die in a year, anything about cliffords?

I used a Crimestopper RS900 on my 5-Speed. I wired an interlock using the safety input on the unit. IF the car is in neutral, THEN it bypasses the clutch. If the car is in any gear, the unit refuses to try to start the car.

On a side note, MECP certified doesnt mean much these days. Dont take it out of context, it is not intended as an insult. Just stating simple facts of this business now.

That is correct, although most dealers still will not install them it can be done.
Audiovoxs Prestige line is basically just a cheaper generic version. Not the worst you can do, but definately not something my customers usually ask for.

why? choices are simple!
starters made for automatic cars [b]WILL[b] work in any car, standard or automatic, just starters MADE for standard cars have ready modes or a way to prevent the car from starting if its in gear.
