installing a CD changer

Hi, I always thought our maximas were pre-wired for CD changers for the trunk? OEM cd changers for our Bose systems say it's plug and play, so I feel like there should be a wire in the trunk for you to hook up the cd changer to and just mount the changer and you're all set.

can someone clear this up for me? is there a plug to plug in the CD changer, or do you actually have to get a long cord that runs from the back of the Bose HU to the trunk?

Thanks!

There's no Wire that goes to the trunk.

You have to order the long wire---about 10-12feet. Many stores dont carry it. You have to order it directly from USA SPEC:

Phone: 626-890-6410
Part#: CDLNS

Mine is coming in next week.

What they mean by plug and play is, that you have to open up your stero plug the wire into the CD CHANGER slot and youre ready to go...because our Stock BOSE system has this BUTTON called "CHNG/CD"(PLAY part)

If your stereo has the chng/cd button it will have the input on the back. If you haven't gotten the cd changer yet you may want to look at the OEM in-dash unit the goes in the Din space under the stereo. Then it's easy to use it and you don't have to run any cables.

If you need to run the cable, search for some install instructions. I have found them before, not sure right now where I found them.

The cable comes with the changer if you buy the USA SPEC unit. Install takes about 45 minutes.

the din space cd changer will not work with the bose HU. if you want to simplify the install try installing the cd changer in the glove box, i did mounting the changer in the trunk on the rear deck prooved to be a terrible idea, it did nothing but skip for me, which is why i put it in the glove box .

Alot of stores do actually carry it, but it is typically the smaller stores. I sell a few of them a month.
