Custom 10" Sub install in back deck?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has replaced the stock 8" Bose sub in the back deck with a custom 10" sub? Can this be done and if anyone has done it how does it sound? I have an 01 with the Bose system and also needed to know what type of converter or wiring harness I would need to hook the amp up to my stock Bose headunit. Thanks...

I’ve seen it done before; there were a couple posts about this while back.

Someone did it, made a nice custom box to mount up in the deck where the BOSE goes. But he couldn't have been too happy with it, because he sold it a couple months later, lol. Most people who get the Basslink seem happy with it, you might want to try that instead.

I just had this looked at by my local shop. It can be done but the labor for the custom work was a little much for me, since I won't be on Cribs anytime soon. The coolest thing we looked at is Focal makes a 5 3/8" subwoofer, that would be extreme sq and responsive. I looked at firing two to three of these little guys up through the stock hole, but you have got to have that thing sealed tight. An 8w7 would also be killer. Other option we looked at was two of the focals mounted inside the armrest, which would require cuting the seat somewhat and a box on the back, but again very cool. In the end it was just too much money for custom work. I get my kicks out of installing and doing my own thing so I just got some goodies off ebay and will be doing some very slight custom work shortly. Will post pics when finished. I am dying to see someone do this though. I hope I have planted a seed. If you aren't a SPL guy then the smaller sub size is better and more responsive especially with rock music and kick drum beats. My .02

subdocmax has a company that make custom sub boxes that bolt in place of the stock bose sub. They use either 1 or 2 6 1/2" subs. I can't remember his website but try and PM him.
