Replacing bose speakers?

I know this question has probably been addressed before but I can't find any posts of this. I have the Bose system in my max and wanted to leave everything looking stock but replace all the speakers inside with better ones. Is this possible to replace Bose speakers with new ones and keep all the existing Bose amps and headunit or do I have to gut it all? If so should I pay more and buy from Cruchfield so I get all the adapters and stuff?
