Amp Not Powering

I really need some advice on this. I recently just hooked up my old amp + box. I used the previous wiring so everything should be working right. However, something is up. The power light on my amp does not go on, although there is power going to the amp. Needless to say, my subs aren't working. The only thing I did differently was not hooking up the remote connection. I don't even know what it is, it's labeled "REM". This wouldn't have anything to do with the power light though. I checked both fuses, the one running to my battery and the one on my amp itself. They both seem to be fine. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong? I have a 300w 2 channel coustic amp hooked up to 2 600w subs. It worked just before I took it out. I just don't get it. Thanks!

you answered your own question.

The REM cord tells the amp to turn on!
you run it from the headunit to the amp, so when you turn the HU on it turns the amp on, and when you turn the HU off it turns the amp off.

That's likely your problem!

lol...who would have thought that little wire would be so important. Now I know! I'm going to try that out and let you know. Thanks!
