stock bose h/u problems

ok so when we bought my 1996 infiniti i30, it had no problems what so ever with the bose sound system. a couple years ago the h/u started to just randomly turn off at times. its gotten so bad over the past couple years that now i can barely get through 2-3 tracks or 10 mins of radio listening before it stops playing. when i say it stops playing i dont mean the h/u totally shuts off but just the music stops coming out of the speakers. if i turn the h/u off for about 10 mins and turn it back on, the problem is usually fixed for a little while until it happens ago. does anybody know what the problem could be? has anybody had this same problem? i might contact bose tomorrow and see what they say. i think it might be a bad connection?

I remember....I bet if you also blasted the volume up at first it wouldn't last 3 min!!! it happend to me on a previous car. it was a custom audio built, not bose, but the symptoms where the same. i had a bad ground connection on my amp. All i did was found a better metal surface and voila!
